Haiti viene trattata, in senso metaforico ma non troppo, come una vera e propria latrina, dove scaricare i propri sensi di colpa, attraverso le donazioni fatte in tutto il mondo, ma poi di fatto utilizzate per gestire un apparato gigantesco che porta ben pochi benefits to Haitians who continue to have to fend for themselves, as they have always done.

Un altro progetto, si può dire gratuito, è quello di SODIS (abbreviazione di Solar Water Disinfection) promosso dall'OMS (Organizzazione Mondiale della Sanità). E' un progetto che utilizza l'energia del sole, attraverso il semplice utilizzo di bottiglie in plastica PET (le normali bottiglie dell'acqua minerale).
Si mette l'acqua, eventualmente prima filtrata dai sedimenti, nella bottiglia, e la si lascia al sole per 6 ore o più (a secondo della latitudine and weather conditions), preferably resting on the metal surfaces such as corrugated shacks.
