Gaelle M. Celestin is the president of GFANM AYISYEN YO while Evel Fanfan is the president of AUHMOD.
Both associations are also intended to ensure free access to justice, not to become so distant as to be unknown and inaccessible to be a failure there.
Among the projects currently carried out is Haiti Emergency, a project that took shape on the initiative of the School of Peace in Rome http://www.haitiemergency.org then establishing a partnership with AUHMOD.
Gaelle M. Celestin carefully articulates the words, specifies in detail the substance with the intent to arrive in a clear and unequivocal voice of Haitian women in the expectation of future construction of new bridges to the women, who are able to break down borders.
GFANM AYISYEN YO, what is the role and activity of his organization?
First let me thank you for this interview.
are Gaelle M. Celestin, the president of this association that works in particular and women engaged in domestic work in other households, are often young women, who have between 25 and 30 years, and are a particularly vulnerable group. One of our goals is to promote the value of Haitian women, their rights and their dignity. To this end we organize meetings, educational meetings for women to acquire more and better understanding and knowledge of their rights, sometimes they themselves do not have.
And then try to help women who work legally in the house when they are victims of violence, particularly sexual, by their own employers work.
Violence against women has increased after the earthquake of January 12, 2010, what are the reasons?
Because after the earthquake have increased women living in camps, in tents, where there is no security, and women are victims of all types of injustice and violence.
One way to combat this violence is the drafting of the dossier, often inferred from their experiences in the fields, files containing information about violence suffered and living conditions in tents. With this type of documentation can be able to submit the relevant courts to seek justice at last. What
change calls for Haitian women?
is important to understand that if women's rights are not respected, then it means that there is no justice and, therefore, no real political stability.
To realize this awareness there are various voluntary associations of Haitian women who are fighting for the same objective.
What do you think of the nomination and potential election MIRLAND Manigat to the presidency? What could change?
The nomination must be exactly in the direction desired by the equality of gender, equality, for if a man can be president for a woman should apply the same reasoning.
I think that is a diplomatic MIRLAND Manigat capable, equipped with the skills to do something for Haiti and its women, for their rights, against violence and against social injustice. With her, I think you can really change.
What can be done then Italian women for Haiti?
My goal would be to create a sort of partnership, through various media, a network of relations between the Italian and Haitian women, to know the realities, issues and people.
